Ms. Layla

She is still alive. She still is resting mostly, but walks around on the back porch several steps, before she wants to lay down again. She is safely contained within the dog crate unless we are back there with her. I put soft towels/blankets, food and water in there for her. The food has not been touched and I don't believe she drank any of the water.

It appears as if she might have gotten past the initial trauma of the head injury. We now must wait to see if she develops any complications from the injury and need to get some fluids in her to avoid extreme dehydration. It would be a shame that she survives the head trauma, but dies of dehydration. I have not been able to get much water down her throat. I don't know of any cat that likes to be held while medicine was put down their throat, but she is especially NOT laid back. She has always been more timid, nervous little girl, that is kind of psychotic.

Brian is a bit less apprehensive around her, so I asked him to help me by holding her while I got some syringe fulls of fluid down her today. If she starts panicking with me, I start getting scared that she might bite or scratch or I might hurt her, so she always gets loose from me. Brian can hold on to her a little bit longer. She is a strong, little thing. We go in several times a day and tend to her...love on her, washed her fur today because it stinks horrible, then restrain her while we get medicine and water in her as best as possible. Today was the best day of getting stuff down her. We had to wrap her in a towel, then wrap her again in a rug to avoid the claws. Poor baby girl fought something awful and wore herself out. The first time we did it today, she peed all over the towel - it was POTENT urine!!! There was not enough water in it to dilute it at all. It was awful. I was worried that she panicked so hard that we killed her.....y'know how some animals eliminate their waste when they die....but no - thank goodness. It was kind of good that she eliminated all that waste though.......it was sitting inside her not getting out.....

Her one eye that had blood in it is closed shut with a bloody scab over it......if she survives this whole ordeal.....not sure if she will have that eye or not....... She had some goo coming out of her mouth.......I was freaking that it might be cerebrospinal fluid, but Brian thought an area of her mouth looked infected and it might just be pus. Along with the water we have given her today, she was given some anibiotics and got some of that down her. We will continue with this wrap method, along with the antibiotics. Hopefully, she will start drinking, then eating on her own.

She is definitely NOT out of the clear, by far. She is still hurt very badly and has a long way to go for recovery. I am amazed at her strength and will to live. Time will tell.......
